yet again......
From time to time, even reputable journals run yet another sensational story about a 'new' identification of the woman in the world's best-known painting. Do you ever wonder why these stories are published? You probably share my own guess at the answer: media knows we are fascinated by celebrity. Celebrity stories sell! And 'Mona Lisa' has been a celebrity for much longer even than Princess Diana.

How from age to age the art of painting continually declines and deteriorates when painters have no other standard than work already done.
and if u start to think..................
'The Last Supper' painting by Leonardo has been damaged and restored so much that it is difficult to ascertain precisely what the original looked like. Leonardo's first biographer, Vasari, writing in the 16th century decribed it as 'ruined' by the paint chemically reacting with the plaster ground and flaking off. It was heavily restored in the 18th century then later was vandalised by French soldiers. During WW2 the building was hit by a bomb. It was massively restored in the 1979 - 1999 so what you see today is mostly not Leonardo.
